Mumford & Sons have scored an instant number one album on iTunes USA following their Grammy Awards appearance yesterday despite not winning an award.
'Sigh No More', the Mumford & Sons album
Mumford & Sons were nominated for two awards, Best New Artist and Best Rock Song for 'Little Lion Man'. Esperanza Spalding won the Best New Artist category and Neil Young took home Best Rock Song for 'Angry World'.
However, according to today's iTunes chart, the Mumford & Sons 'Sigh No More' album is the biggest selling album today in America.
According to Bob Lefsetz, author of the music industry newsletter The Lefsetz Letter, 'Sigh No More' registered a 156% increase in sales following the Mumford & Sons performance on the Grammy Awards leading Lefsetz to conclude 'quality triumphs over spectacle'.
Mumford & Sons' Ben Lovett also runs the indie label Communion featuring Australia's Matt Corby. Matt will showcase for the label at SXSW in Austin, Texas next month.
