After wowing the masses on the NME "indie rave" tour and selling out their London warm up dates in less than a day, New Young Pony Club embark on their most scientific gig to date as they mix it up for the latest T-Mobile Street Gig. Possibly one of the hottest bands around they will be taking centre stage at the world's pre-eminent Science Museum and one of London's most famous attractions on Wednesday 4th April.
Demand for New Young Pony Club is fever pitch and the three girls and two boys, (including the NME Cool List lead singer and provocateur, Tahita) are setting the world alight with their brand of disco-embellished pop. New Young Pony Club are a five-piece consisting of Tahita (vocals), Andy (guitar), Igor (bass) Lou (keyboards) and Sarah (drums), and they provide the kind of tight and bass-heavy future noise currently setting hairs on end up and down the country. The band has almost finished recording their debut album, which will be released in June. Early listens fulfil the promise of one of the most exciting records of the year.
Tahita says 'Not many people know that the band was conceived when we met at a science fiction convention. Our fascination with science comes through in our songs – the new single The Bomb was written with Albert Einstein in mind, so getting sweaty in The Science Museum seemed the natural choice. Come to the T-Mobile Street Gig with an open mind and get set for an explosive night'.
Already in its third year, 2007 kicked off with a fabulous circus themed gig with Mika in a big top at Berkeley Square and followed up with Scotland's The View playing Edinburgh Castle. This T-Mobile Street Gig brings once of the hottest bands of the moment to one of London's most famous attractions promises to be another classic T-Mobile Street Gig, bringing you simply closer to the ultimate live gig experience.
As with every T-Mobile Street Gig, there will be unexpected surprises all night long! The 15 unique T-Mobile Street Gigs last year included The Strokes performing amongst dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum, The Rakes in a Kebab Shop and a superb 3-day, underground carnival with a host of brilliant bands including Basement Jaxx to top it off!
2007 is set to be an incredible year for T-Mobile Street Gigs, not only will it be bigger and better than ever before but it will be visiting more cities across the country, so watch this space…
