Talking about Carey’s ensuing trip to hospital, the 30-year-old radio and TV presenter told the Los Angeles Times: 'They’re calling it a ‘scare’, but really it was just nerve-racking. We were in the hospital from 4am until I don't even know.'
And despite being excited about the impending arrival of their twins, Cannon said he hopes they're born close to their 14 May due date.
He said: 'The thing with twins is that you want them in their natural incubator as long as possible. They might be ready to come out, but we need them to stay in for a while.'
Cannon, who is helping to launch the Stamp Out Hunger campaign in the US, also insisted that he will make sure his children do not take anything for granted.
The America’s Got Talent star said: 'One thing I want to make sure of as I raise my children, they definitely have to be involved in these types of things.
'Just because they're a little more well off – and lucky, really – I want them to be able to realise they need to do this.'
