Nick Cave has spoken about Grinderman in a John Hillcoat-directed video on YouTube.
"The process with Grinderman is to go in and record something is that we go in with nothing," Cave explains. "We don't have any ideas, we haven't really talked about it, or at least me and Warren might have talked about stuff, but by the time we get in there any ideas to push the music in any particular direction seem to evaporate once we actually start playing."
He goes on to praise producer Nick Launay, saying it requires great patience to work with the Bad Seeds and Grinderman, as well as director John Hillcoat who has directed the video for 'Heathen Child', as well as the Cave-penned film 'The Proposition'.
But most importantly, he speaks of the joy of Grinderman, saying "there's a wonderful self indulgence about Grinderman that we're really enjoying. We're doing stuff to please ourselves on some level, so there is a real joy in the music, because we're playing stuff that we love."
