Nick Lachey says watching the birth of his son was "surreal".
The singer is married to TV personality Vanessa Minnillo and last year they welcomed their first child, Camden.
Nick was present in the delivery room and enjoyed every part of the very special moment.
"It was surreal but one of the coolest things to ever see in your life. You're there with the woman you love; she's giving birth to your child. It's a pretty magical thing," he smiled to Fox News.
The star's latest album is inspired by his son and aptly named A Father's Lullaby.
It features songs he has written as well as tunes that are meaningful to him, such as You Are My Sunshine, which his grandfather used to sing to him.
"Obviously, it was inspired by my little guy and all the feelings that came along with finding out you're pregnant and watching him being born, just a very emotional time. It was a great way to channel all that into music," Nick explained.
Camden is now seven months old and has apparently reached the "belly laugh stage".
Nick says Vanessa struggled a little after giving birth and suffered from the "baby blues".
However, they wouldn't hesitate when it comes to expanding their brood.
"I think we've talked about two more but if the next one is a girl it may be tempting to just have one of each," he revealed.
"In a perfect world we'd have a couple of boys and then finish off with a daughter. If I can orchestrate that I'd be good."
