No Doubt Hits the Studio with Major Lazer

No Doubt is still hard at work on their first album in nearly a decade, and last night the group received some help from dancehall/electro production duo Major Lazer. A photo of the band with producers Diplo and Switch was posted on No Doubt's official Twitter page Wednesday night (July 20).

"We're working on 3 different songs tonight [sic] in 3 different rooms in the same studio complex, all at once. Like magic, somehow it works," wrote guitarist Tom Dumont. "@majorlazer in one of those rooms. Cutting drums with Adrian [Young] at the moment."

Along with the news of the collaboration, Dumont also shared the titles of two songs the group is working on for the follow-up to 2001's "Rock Steady." "We are working on this new song called 'Undercover' and it's trying to break out of it's shell," he wrote on Tuesday, and posted a day later, "Today's track is entitled 'Push and Shove' Wish I could disclose more than a title."

No Doubt announced in January that they had entered the recording studio to work on a new album, after reuniting in 2009 for a summer tour. The members of Major Lazer, meanwhile, have stayed active in the mainstream since the release of their "Lazers Never Die" EP in 2010: Diplo produced Chris Brown's hit "Look at Me Now," while Switch helped produce Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)," which samples Major Lazer's single "Pon de Floor."
