Are you ready for some football? Well, No Doubt, Mariah Carey and Cee Lo Green are. The musical superstars have all joined forces to work with the NFL to add some musical spice to this year's football season.
According to EW.com, Mariah Carey and No Doubt will perform in New York City at Rockefeller Plaza for a pre-game special on September 5. The show will air live at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC one day before the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboy kick off the season in New Jersey.
For his part, Cee Lo has crafted a tune billed as "I Love Football" (recorded to the melody of the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop") to air during the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football. Fans can get in on the fun by submitting videos of themselves singing the tune. The network will air 90-second clips of the fan-made videos every week.
It's a busy time for all three artists. No Doubt are currently riding off the wave of their single "Settle Down" and are prepping for their album release Push and Shove, which drops weeks after their NFL gig on September 25. This certainly isn't their first showdown with the NFL. They already have some NFL experience under their belt, having hit the stage for the 2003 Super Bowl.
Like No Doubt, Cee Lo is also a Super Bowl alum. He famously hit the stage with Madonna earlier this year in what was one of the most memorable performances thanks to M.I.A.'s finger flip. He will be back on NBC this fall as one of the A-list judges on "The Voice," which kicks off its new season on September 10.
As for MC, Carey performed the "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the 2002 Super Bowl. She just launched her comeback with the aptly named single "Triumphant," which features Rick Ross and Meek Mill.
