No Doubt's Adrian Young has denied the band has broken up following Austallia's Undercover's report last week.
The band have certainly gone into hiatus with singer Gwen Stefani launching both a solo career as well as an acting career. Her solo album is due later this year.
Young will soon be heard on the new Unwritten Law album but says No Doubt is not over and that he has not joined Unwritten Law. In an email to Undercover he says "No Doubt is not over. Also, I am not joining Unwritten Law. I merely recorded some drum tracks on their upcoming album".
However when asked to state categorically that No Doubt have not broken up and correct every incorrect detail of the Undercover story, Young did not respond.
No Doubt have been in damage control ever since Gwen Stefani announced the band was over but she has since back-peddled on her earlier statement recently telling Cosmopolitan "I thought it would be a good publicity stunt to say we were breaking up, but really we're not."
If it was a publicity stunt, it has certainly backfired for No Doubt. Some people inside their circle are convinced it was true. With no immediate plans for the band and Gwen in solo mode for 2005, it could be many years before the truth is known.
