One Direction have dismissed rumours they demanded separate dressing rooms on tour because they fell out while they were on the road.
The stars were rumoured to have experienced difficulties during their On the Road Again Tour, which concluded in Sheffield, England, in October (15), and reports suggested production bosses were forced to separate them to keep the peace. Liam Payne has now confirmed speculation they all had their own backstage areas, but insists the singers just wanted somewhere to spend time with loved ones.
"We got our own dressing rooms for this tour," Liam explained during an appearance on UK TV show Loose Women. "(It was) quite nice purely because we don't get to see our families. So when we do see them, we kind of want our own space... so instead of having to organise rooms for them to go in, we had our own dressing rooms so we can have friends on the road and we can have our own space.
"We didn't want to be invading each other's space..."
Liam added of the feud rumours, "People like to blow things out of proportion," while his bandmate Louis Tomlinson insisted they all visited each other backstage: "We would pop into each other's dressing rooms all the time - it's not like we are on lockdown and don't see each other."
During the chat, the band also talked about their planned hiatus which starts next year (16) and promised their fans the split won't be permanent. All four members turned to the camera and vowed they will return after the break, with Louis adding, "We promise!"
Liam explained they are all looking forward to ditching their schedule during their time off because their lives have been so tightly controlled.
"We've literally had our had our lives planned out for the last five years ," Liam declared, "Of what you're doing the next day and the day after that - and the next year almost... (It will be great) to be able to get up and say, 'What do I want to do today?'"
Niall Horan then recalled, "Remember when we used to have to say, 'Can I have my birthday off next year?'" prompting laughs from the group.
The interview ended with the show's hosts handing out special Loose Women mugs to the singers, and Harry Styles was especially thrilled with the gift, smiling and clapping as he declared, "Oh yeah! They're really good!"
