Ozzy Osbourne says a missile thrown from the crowd which ended up making him bleed "shocked [him] more than anything".
The Black Sabbath rocker enjoys playing a range of shows, from sell-out festivals to smaller, more intimate performances. Ozzy has recalled shedding blood in the name of rock, thanks to an overzealous audience member.
"I was playing in Milan and someone threw a f**king Zippo lighter, which smacked me in the head. There was blood all over my face. It shocked me more than anything," he told kerrang! magazine.
"Tony Iommi [Black Sabbath guitarist] got whacked with a pint of beer at Madison Square Garden. I met the guy who threw it years after. He said he was a baseball player and his mate dared him to do it. I said, 'I hope you're f**king proud of yourself, you ****!'"
Ozzy takes everything in his stride. The 63-year-old star insists he doesn't have "diva strops".
"I don't really do that sort of thing. My job is to be a people pleaser. When you're nice to people, you can get more done. It must be a really hard job being an a**hole," he laughed.
