PAOLO NUTINI said he wants to learn Italian.
The Scottish-born singer, whose family come from Barga in Tuscany, said despite his roots, he struggles with the language.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: "I can't speak much Italian. I do go down well over there but it's frustrating because I can't really speak it.
"Even if I do talk they can't understand my accent, but I should try to learn it."
The star also revealed that most of his musical influences were inspired by his Italian heritage.
He said: "My grandfather was Italian, he influenced me with the music, especially when I was between 5 and 6.
"He would calm me down by playing old tunes on the piano."
Nutini is due to release new single 'Coming Up Easy' on August 10.
