Pharrell Williams has signed on as Creative Director for the Earth concert this June.
Earth, a massive worldwide concert that is meant to bring awareness to environmental issues.
The first edition of Live Earth was held on July 7, 2007. More than 150 artists performed at twelve venues around the world including Wembley Stadium in London that saw performances by the likes of Genesis, Duran Duran, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, the Beastie Boys, Madonna and the Foo Fighters. Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ included sets by Keith Urban, Melissa Etheridge, the Dave Matthews Band, Bon Jovi, Smashing Pumpkins, Roger Waters and the Police.
For the 2015 edition, founders Al Gore and Kevin Wall have chosen Pharrell Williams as creative director. Pharrell will be instrumental in choosing the artists that will perform and joined Gore and Wall at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland earlier today.
Shows are expected in New York, Paris, Johannesburg, Sydney, Beijing, Sao Paolo and, in only the second occurrence after Metallica, the Antarctic.
