Anthony Jones, the 26-year-old convicted of stabbing Professor Green in the neck with a broken bottle in May 2009, has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Jones, who was a student at London Metropolitan University, was convicted of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court in October. Today (January 13) he was handed the sentence in the same court.
Judge John Lafferty accepted the rapper's version of events and described Jones' actions as "a premeditated attack", reports the Islington Gazette.
Green, real name Stephen Manderson, had previously told the court that he thought he was going to die after the incident in Cargo nightclub in Shoreditch, London, and that he phoned his mother and grandmother to say goodbye.
Lawyer Melanie Simpson, who was acting on Jones' behalf, said her client had subsequently admitted he had stabbed Green despite him pleading not guilty at the trial.
The attack has left Green with a large scar on his neck.
