YOUTH charity vInspired today launches Change Something; offering one young person to have a massive spotlight on them and the issue they care about the most, at an innovative live event at the Roundhouse this summer, which will include a live PA from UK rapper Professor Green.
Change Something is calling on young people to have their voices heard on subjects that matter to them, by saying what they would change in one day. It is built on the simple premise that, together, Britain's youth have the collective positive power to 'change something' about the world in one day.
One young person's great idea for change will then win the ultimate campaigning platform - the charity's inaugural vInspired Live event at London's Roundhouse on Saturday 6th July, hosted by top presenters Rick Edwards and Gemma Cairney.
The event will demonstrate people power at its best with thousands of young people coming together to create a change on issues they care about. Combining campaigning, inspirational speakers and music, vInspired Live will be a celebration of the positive power of Britain's youth.
vInspired Live's stellar line-up of leading musicians, inspirational speakers and celebrities will join forces with a room full of 1,500 young people to promote the young campaigner's issue via social media and, importantly, make a change.
A recent study from the charity found that the lack of job opportunities for young people (28%) is the top issue Britain's youth would like to change, ahead of tuition fee costs (15%) and being unable to ever buy their own home (13%). Change Something will accept any ideas for change, no matter how big or small the cause.
A shortlist of four finalists has been chosen from thousands of ideas for change from young people in the UK, with winning thoughts on how to challenge youth unemployment, homelessness, mental health, and youth violence. They are now paired up with a celebrity mentor to be in with a chance of winning this money-can't-buy prize.
Influential mentors YouTube teen sensations Jack & Finn Harries, Micro Scooter entrepreneur Dominic McVey, Apprentice 2009 runner-up Kate Walsh and Gemma Cairney will now support a finalist each to help drive votes for their young person's idea through their social and media influence. Baroness Martha Lane Fox will also add additional to support to all finalists.
The idea with the most votes on 17th June will win the ultimate platform for change to their cause.
Entry to vInspired Live on Saturday 6th July is free, with young people being urged to apply online at vinspiredlive.com in order to have a chance of winning a golden ticket to the summer's must-attend event.
The charity is dedicated to helping 14-25 year-olds build skills, confidence and employability whilst changing the things that they care about.
