Randy Travis is no longer receiving treatment in hospital, it has been confirmed.
The 54-year-old country music legend was airlifted to a medical centre earlier this month after his heart muscles became weak due to a viral infection. While being treated he suffered a stroke and was in critical condition.
According to TMZ, doctors have deemed him well enough to leave the Baylor Heart Hospital in Texas. The website reports he was "transferred to a physical therapy facility" on Wednesday to receive further care.
Randy was initially hospitalised on July 7 due to cardiomyopathy, a malady that swells the heart which in turn weakens the organ.
The star has a history of issues with alcohol, but these are reportedly completed unrelated to his current ill health.
"He has what's called idiopathic cardiomyopathy, which means he has scarring of his heart muscle that is causing his heart to be weak and not able to support his circulation without help of either medical devices or medication," Dr. Michael Mack said in a statement to TMZ recently. "From the appearance on echocardiograms, which are images of his heart, this is not the appearance of either drugs or alcohol causing the heart condition. Mr. Travis does have a family history of cardiomyopathy and it is more likely related to that."
Randy's fiancée Mary Davis has thanked fans for their support and explained Randy is doing better than anyone expected.
