With its swaggering, snarling production work and a roster of guest stars that includes Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Jay-Z (rapping about Sasquatch, no less), Kanye West's "Monster" is undoubtedly one of 2010's biggest and baddest songs, so you'd probably expect the video to be equally as intense.
But we're willing to bet you never thought it would be so bloody.
And yet, judging from behind-the-scenes footage taken from the set of the "Monster" video, it looks like the clip won't shy away from getting gory. The footage, first posted in early November on YouTube, began picking up traction on Wednesday (December 1). In it, Ross is seen dressed in a velvet smoking jacket as he dines on a bloody hunk of meat while a (presumably) dead woman is sprawled out before him. In the background of the scene, a wall is covered in a blood-smattered tarp and another slab of meat is visible on a table.
Later on, Ross performs his verse from the song while standing in a doorway, still dressed in that smoking jacket and sunglasses. Neither West, nor Minaj or Jay-Z makes an appearance in the footage, though Minaj's dressing room is shown. Also on display are several of director Jake Nava's storyboards, which are filled with photos of nude models reclining on tables.
There's no word on just when the "Monster" video will premiere, and a spokesperson for West did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter by press time. The song was one of the first 'Ye premiered through his G.O.O.D. Friday initiative, unveiling the track on his website back in August.
In October, West confirmed to MTV News that the song would also be featured on his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.
