Rick Ross Raps 'I Can't Believe I'm Alive' On Kendrick Remix: What Does He Mean?

It's been a jarring 24 hours for Rick Ross. First the Maybach Music boss celebrated his birthday with his closest friends at Miami's Club Liv and then was shot at Monday morning. While speculation and concern over Rozay's well-being swirled around the industry, the MMG camp said nothing, only releasing a new track, an unofficial remix to Kendrick Lamar's "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe."

While Ross himself hasn't tweeted since the shooting, Maybach Music's official Twitter account began blasting out the song, which lives on their Soundcloud page, at approximately 10 p.m. ET last night.

The God Forgives MC starts his verse sentimentally reflecting on his mother's love and his battle with dyslexia. "I used to struggle to read," he raps, though it is unclear if he really suffered from dyslexia or is taking poetic license here.

Whatever the case, Ross' verse takes an eerie turn a few bars later as he seemingly references recent headlines. Those include December's online threats from a street gang known as the Gangster Disciples. Monday's drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where assailants are reported to have taken shots at the rapper's Rolls Royce as he was driving, comes a month after the Internet controversy. The timing of the song's release on Monday night and the verses themselves has led to speculation that the Bawse may be hinting at recent friction.

"Sometimes I look in the mirror, I can't believe I'm alive/ Disrespectful to n---as who wanna take me alive/ Wishing death on you n---as, we'll never see eye to eye/ Somehow I pray for you n---as at the very same time," Ross raps.

It's unclear exactly when the track was created but Ross has a history of recording even when confronting personal challenges. After the larger-than-life spitter suffered a pair of seizures in October 2011, it didn't take him long to recuperate and the health scare even inspired his God Forgives, I Don't track "Diced Pineapples."

Still, the current situation looks to be deeper than rap, and seeing how the social media-savvy MMG mastermind hasn't tweeted a link to "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe," he may not be focused on hitting the studio just yet.

Rozay and his girlfriend are said to have escaped Monday's shooting with no serious injuries. The suspects fled the scene and police are still investigating.
