Rick Ross Shooting Is No Joke For Wale

When it comes to Rick Ross' safety, Wale takes things very seriously. The Maybach Music MC took to the airwaves on Wednesday to speak on the drive-by shooting and attempt on his mentor's life, making him the first one out of the rapper's camp to speak publicly. And he's not very happy with the media's responses to the whole ordeal.

"I think the media has been perpetuating a lot of things," he said when he appeared as a guest on Atlanta's Streetz 94.5.

Wale took exception to reports that alleged that Ross staged the January 28 shooting and tweets which made light of the serious situation. "God forbid something happens to anybody, they'll be playing people's records all day and acting like you know and everybody was making jokes," he said. "I even unfollowed a lot of people on Twitter while that was happening because it's a joke to y'all 'cause you see somebody on TV every day, but what if that's your friend? 'Cause that's my friend."

Wale expressed similar concerns in 2011 after the Teflon Don suffered a pair of seizures. The Washington D.C. rapper was scared after the getting the news and turned off by the false reports on Twitter. "People are vicious though, especially on social networks, because sometimes people just want to be the ones who break the news and they're not realizing the people they affect," he said when he appeared on "RapFix Live" not long after Ross' health scare.

Now, after the shooting, his overall outlook remains the same. "So what y'all think is a joke, that's somebody's health. I know his children," he said. "God forbid something happens, and I just lost one of my brothers. So I don't even play around with that stuff. And there's a lot of power in the tongue."

Wednesday night Rozay called into DJ Bootleg Kev's radio show on Power 98.3 in Phoenix, but didn't speak on the shooting. "Tho he dodged my question about the recent shooting, shouts to @rickyrozay for calling in," tweeted last night after the interview.
