The 49-year-old made big news by insulting many A-listers at Golden Globe Awards 2011, including introducing Bruce Willis as Ashton Kutcher's dad.
But commenting on his controversial hosting duties, The Office actor hasn't let his critics get to him.
He said: 'I don't know what line I crossed. I didn't draw the line.'
He went on to say some of the people who criticised his jokes obviously hadn't seen his stand-up routine.
As to whether he thinks he will be invited back next year, Gervais said: 'It doesn't really matter, because I'm not gonna do it again anyway. I said I wouldn't do a second time, but I think twice is enough.'
The Extras star went on to thank all the comedians who have stood by him.
