Puerto Rican crooner Ricky Martin called for more voices to join the fight against human trafficking.
"Join us," Martin said in Washington a day before addressing the House International Relations Committee in a hearing on human trafficking.
"We need voices," the "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer said at the Inter-American Development Bank.
The IDB, the Ricky Martin Foundation and the International Organization for Migration back the "Call and Live" campaign, a telephone hotline that provides help and information for human trafficking victims.
"To fight modern-day slavery is our collective duty, and every sector of society should come together to put an end to trafficking in persons," Martin, whose foundation advocates the rights of children, said in a statement earlier.
The "Call and Live" campaign has been in place in Peru for four months and will soon be launched in Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador and Nicaragua.
There are also plans to launch the drive in Colombia, Mexico and Latino communities in the Washington area.document.write(unescape("
