Latin superstar Ricky Martin has been given GLAAD's top award.
The Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards have been handed out in a ceremony in New York.
Newly-out singer Ricky Martin received the Vito Russo Award for the most-significant contribution to the positive portrayal of the GLBT community in the media.
The Puerto Rican megastar said upon accepting the award, "I just want to be free. I can say, today I am free'.
He was chosen specifically for being a positive gay role model for Latin Americans.
Other winners included Tina Fey for an outstanding episode of her sitcom 30 Rock, Scissor Sisters, and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.
