Ricky Martin would "give [his] life" for the woman who gave birth to his sons.
The Puerto Rican singer's twin boys Matteo and Valentino were born via surrogate in August 2008.
Ricky doesn't like the crude connotations associated with the process, and fully appreciates the woman who allowed him and his partner of four years Carlos González Abella to become parents for the first time.
"I did not rent a womb. That expression is used by fundamentalists. They loaned me an abdomen… I would give my life for the woman who helped me bring my sons into this world," he told the Spanish version of Vanity Fair magazine.
The 40-year-old star publicly announced his homosexuality in 2010.
Ricky previously dated women including Mexican TV host Rebecca de Alba, who he had an on-off relationship with for over 14 years. He thanks all of his past partners for teaching him about love.
"I've slept with women and I've fallen in love with them and I've felt wonderful things. There was love, passion. I don't regret anything, any of the relationships I've lived, they taught me a lot, both men and women equally," he explained.
Ricky is proud of how far he's come. The star would stand up for gay rights if Spain were to change their same-sex marriage law.
"If they touch [the law], now as a Spanish citizen, I would stand up and unite with my community," he said.
