Ricky Martin has split from his boyfriend of three years.
The Livin' la Vida Loca singer went public with his relationship with Carlos Gonzalez Abella in 2010, shortly after he came out as gay.
However, a spokesperson for the star on Thursday confirmed the split.
"Ricky and Carlos have mutually agreed to end their relationship but continue to be united by friendship and their shared experiences," his representative told Just Jared.
Ricky, who fathered twin boys Matteo and Valentino via surrogate in 2008, hinted all was not well before the New Year.
The singer took to his Twitter page to update his nine million-plus followers.
"Changes oh changes," he wrote.
"So, you are waiting to be ready??? Watch out, you can be waiting all your life. #GODoit ;0)," he added.
It's not all heartbreak for the heartthrob, however. Ricky recently announced plans to work with a fellow Latin superstar.
"I am releasing a song with Jennifer Lopez now and we're doing a little TV special on it," he told America's OK! Magazine during a recent press conference.
Ricky said he was also taking time to reflect on the past year.
Highlights included a move to Australia and a role as coach on the Australian version of hit TV talent show The Voice.
"I had no idea what it was going to be like. I just needed time to write music and I said, Australia sounds like a great scenario for me to go and write music and I have always loved that country," he explained.
