Wondering what went down during Rihanna's 777 Tour last November? Well on May 6, fans will finally get to see for themselves. And they are getting an early glimpse at what to expect in the "Rihanna 777" special thanks to a brand-new trailer.
The tease shows Rihanna walking backstage with her entourage, the propeller of the plane getting ready for takeoff, and some concert footage highlighted by the cheers of excited fans. "One woman takes on the world," is the tagline with her track "Right Now" offering up an up-tempo soundtrack.
While the special looks like it will include all the confetti and glamour of the seven-city trek across the globe, what's not included in the snippet is the reported "bedlam" that ensued when more than 150 journalists and fans set to sail around the world together in November.
She played shows in Mexico City, Toronto, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, London and New York to promote the release of her chart-topping 2012 album Unapologetic. But, reports from the road began to show a less glamorous side of the excursion. Days spent on the Boeing 777 with very little access to the singer led to disturbances aboard the flight — including one journalist streaking during the grip from Berlin to London after hours waiting on the Tarmac.
After wrapping up the tour in New York, Rihanna told the press she'd "f---ing do this again" and later defended the trip in an interview with England's Radio 1.
"It was different having to do your job but also have 200 guests come along with you," she said. "They all want you to host a party every time you get on the plane after a show but you really only have that time to sleep until you get to the next country ... Sometimes it was a two-hour ride to the next country and that was all the sleep you would get."
