There was a time when you heard the name Mike Will Made It and you could narrow down what the "It" in the Atlanta producer's moniker was referring to.
First, there were songs like MMG's "Tupac Back" and DJ Drama's "Ain't No Way Around It," but these days, keeping track of Mike Will's production credits is becoming increasingly harder. Turn on the radio now and you're likely to hear Future's "Turn on the Lights," Juicy J's "Bandz a Make Her Dance" and Mike Will's latest concoction "Pour It Up" with Rihanna.
"I did multiple records for her. I did the stadium-[sounding] record and, of course, I had to do a record like 'Pour It Up,' because it was that turn-up," Mike Will told from the set of DJ Khaled's "Models & Bottles"video shoot in Miami last month.
Unapologetic's big-money ode has quickly become a fan favorite since Rih released the album, and last week, the pop queen posted a topless photo of herself with a dollar bill plastered across her mouth and the song's title written out — maybe it's cover art for a possible next single.
What would music sound like without Rihanna and Chris Brown?
After receiving the call from Team Rih, Will submitted three tracks, but the Bajan beauty chose the one with the track master's signature synths and tuned hand claps, and why wouldn't she?
"I know that's what they were really looking for from me. That's why they really called me in there, to give them a record like that," he said before drawing a comparison to his current strip-club anthem with Juicy J. "It kinda has like a 'Bandz a Make Her Dance' feel to it, but it still has Rihanna's own hop."
