Rihanna "defied all those closest to her" by accompanying Chris Brown to his court hearing last week.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Rihanna confirmed she is back with her abusive ex-boyfriend Chris after he was charged with assaulting her in 2009.
In a strange turn of events, the stunning star accompanied her on-off boyfriend to the Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles last week.
Sources close to the International songstress says the bold move was to prove to her critics that she has forgiven Chris once and for all.
"Rihanna defied all those closest to her by joining Chris. She said she needed to be there for him when he most needed her in order for people to accept that they are back together. She wanted to show that she's forgiven him," a source told British magazine Grazia.
Rihanna spoke out about her decision to give Chris a second chance in the explosive interview with Rolling Stone.
"I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose me. To feel the consequences of that... But I got real with myself, and I just couldn't bury the way I felt. I decided it was more important for me to be happy, and I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that. Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it," she explained.
"When you add up the pieces from the outside, it's not the cutest puzzle in the world..."
