Rihanna says falling in love is a "priceless" feeling, although getting hurt was the worst "pain in [her] life".
The stunning songstress is famed for her tumultuous relationship with R&B star Chris Brown. The couple split in 2009 after Chris assaulted her, resulting in him being sentenced to probation, community service and counselling.
Rihanna has described the feelings she experienced throughout her high-profile relationship.
"When I was in love, I fell so hard…The way it made me feel was priceless," she revealed in the August edition of Harper's Bazaar.
"And in a blink of an eye my whole life changed. Everything that I knew was different. I never thought I'd feel that pain in my life. I'm afraid of feeling that again."
Rihanna is famously rebellious, and regularly shocks with her song lyrics and fashion choices. The 24-year-old superstar insists she holds back where her personal life is concerned though.
"[I'm] rebellious through my music, through my fashion, tattoos, and my hair," she added. "I have been conservative in my love life… it's pretty much non-existent. If I come across someone who I find really cool, I'll hang out. But the minute I find that we're getting too close I just - I don't let people in."
Since splitting from Chris, Rihanna has seemingly enjoyed a colourful love life, having been linked to a series of men including Drake and Ashton Kutcher.
