The surrealist snapper sued the star saying that the kinky and colourful video was a direct rip-off of his style of pictures.
LaChapelle alleged that RiRi's video copied his composition, poses, use of light, costume and props.
In the New York lawsuit against Rihanna and her label Def Jam, LaChapelle asked for $1 million in damages.
'I like RiRi,' LaChapelle said when he launched the suit earlier this year.
'This is not a personal thing, it's strictly business. Musicians commonly pay to sample music or use someone's beats and there should be no difference when sampling an artist's visuals,' he said.
In July Manhattan federal Judge Shira Scheindlin said that the photographer 'successfully alleges' that the 23-year-old singer and her video director may have copied his images.
Now it is reported Rihanna has settled the case for an 'undisclosed sum'.
Rihanna's reps didn't respond for comment.
