Rihanna and Chris Brown's recent collaboration 'Birthday Cake' has sparked concern amongst domestic violence experts.
The pair, who dated until Brown assaulted the singer in 2009, both posted the new remixes online earlier this week
Lyrics in the collaboration feature Brown singing: "Girl I wanna f*ck you right now, been a long time I've been missing your body.''
Representatives for the pair have continued to deny any romance between them but domestic violence experts have warned Rihanna to be wary of her former boyfriend.
“I don’t think it’s unusual that a couple would get back together after a period of time. Statistics show generally that half of women leave and half go back a number of times before they make a final decision about the relationship,'' said Ellyn Loy, the director of clinical services at the House of Ruth in Maryland.
"Sometimes what it does is raise the consciousness around the issue. My hope would be that there’s a lot of schools and teen groups talking about what do you think this means, do you think this is a good thing, do you think it is a bad thing?” she said. “I think that’s always a good thing."
Following his win at this year's Grammy Awards, Brown received a barrage of criticism.
After the show, Brown tweeted, “HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F*CK OFF!”
