Robin Gibb missed a flight to America after refusing to allow airport security staff to search his bag.
The former Bee Gees star was randomly selected for an extra hand luggage search as he waited in London's Gatwick Airport's departure lounge for a flight to Las Vegas on Friday (21.11.08).
Despite being told by staff he would be unable to board the plane without being searched, Robin refused to hand over his bag.
A source said: "It was all very odd. No one could understand what his problem was. He was fairly calm and not ranting. He just seemed annoyed at being singled out."
The 58-year-old singer, who was travelling alone, eventually agreed to be escorted back through security check points – but missed his £4,000 flight.
Robin was believed to have been returning to America because of a family bereavement, having cut short planned promotional appearances in the UK.
