Ronan Keating says things are going swimmingly in his relationship with his wife despite their separation last year.
The 34-year-old singer just finished a charity swim across the Irish Sea for Cancer Research and the Marie Keating Foundation. His wife Yvonne was there to support him throughout the arduous task.
'Yvonne has been on the boat for the last few days which has been fantastic. It's been wonderful,' Ronan said to British newspaper The Mirror. 'When I was down and feeling sorry for myself and feeling I wasn't able to do it, she was there pushing me on and helping me through it and being a shoulder when I needed it. I couldn't have done it without her.'
Ronan allegedly had an affair with his background dancer Francine Cornell last year. Shortly after reports of the affair surfaced, Yvonne and Ronan split temporarily in May 2010. They have since made amends and are happy together.
'We're doing great,' Ronan said. ' love her to bits and I couldn't have done this without her.'
Ronan swam the entire 56 miles of the charity race in 35 hours. Without hearing his wife's encouragement from the boat to distract him, Ronan would have been frozen stiff with fear by the sea creatures he was swimming with.
'There's the cold to deal with but worse is the jellyfish called Lion's Mane. They are seriously, seriously dangerous. And we came across hundreds of them,' Ronan recalled. 'And I didn't like swimming at night-time. It's pitch black and your imagination runs away with you. I was imagining all sorts of creatures.'
