The Rolling Stones guitarist’s legal separation from wife Jo Wood – who he split from in July 2008 after 24 years of marriage – has been completed and the former couple are now planning an “amicable” discussion to split their assets.
Speaking at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards today (25.01.11), he said: “Yes I'm a free man I believe today is the day the divorce becomes final. I've been so busy.
“I'm going to meet Jo this week very amicably just to talk about you have this and I'll have that. It's only material things. It's important than it's amicable and we're still great pals.”
Ronnie and Jo broke-up after he fled to Ireland for a 10-day drinking binge with Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova – who he went on to have a 14-month relationship with – but the 63-year-old musician insists his affair was not the reason for the split.
He added to BANG Showbiz: “The fact I had mid-life crisis at 60 has nothing to do with it.”
Though Ronnie was previously married to model Krissy Findlay for seven years until 1978, he admits the divorce process feels unfamiliar to him.
He said: “Even though I've been divorced before I don't remember it.”
