Ronnie Wood thought Prince had 'potential' even though he was dressed 'slightly wrong' when they first met.
The American singer was the opening act for Ronnie's band The Rolling Stones during their 1981 series of shows. At the time flamboyant star Prince wasn't that well know, and Ronnie was initially unsure what to make of him.
' remember [band member] Charlie Watts was the first man to turn me on to Prince. He said, 'Have you seen this guy, he's got potential'. So we obviously saw what potential he had, even though he was dressed slightly wrong,' he told Absolute Radio.
'He had a rain mac and stockings and suspenders and the audience didn't really know how to take him.'
People who came to the shows were apparently more than a little shocked by Prince's attire. They were so amazed by what they saw many started pelting him with vegetables.
'He had a few cabbages thrown at him,' Ronnie added. 'Now he's come on and he is such a great performer.'
Prince supported the Rolling Stones in America, to promote his record Controversy which was his fourth studio release.
