Roots Manuva, Ed Rush & Optical and Billy Bragg are set to headline the unique and free thinking Shambala Festival (August Bank Holiday, 23rd to 27th August, Northamptonshire) this summer.
Other acts include the formidable Toddla T, DJ Yoda, The Destroyers and Laura J Martin, however the beauty of Shambala is not simply in big name acts, it's in discovery and variety. Further than kick-ass music, Shambala is known to host many workshops and performances from cabaret to laser displays. Last year also saw a spacious hot tub and outdoor showers, with this year looking to trump in both weird and wonderful surprises and features.
Following the huge success of last year, independent festival Shambala has announced that 2012s theme will be Celebration, with the traditional Shambala fancy dress Carnival and the new Shambolympics setting this August up to be an exhilarating fest.
Shambala is notorious for its colourful collaboration of culture, ethics and discussion. The festival also boasts being the greenest event in the UK winning the "Greenest Festival Award" at the UK Festival Awards last year. The event is 99% powered by wind, sun and waste vegetable oil and has been judged the greenest outdoor event by Industry Green and A Greener Festival.
