It's easy for the reviews of '4everevolution', the new album from Roots Manuva to leave everyone with no doubt as to how important Rodney Smith is to British Hip Hop and British Music in general.
Clocking in at just a few seconds under an hour long and consisting of seventeen tracks, the album covers every style from wonky reggae through pop-funk, street spitting, straight up hip hop, sung ballads and epic death-disco.
From the very start we said we thought it was his very best work since 'Run Come Save Me', turns out everyone else felt the same way.
New Album '4everevolution' reviews:
"Contemplative yet hugely enjoyable... gritty yet gently humorous... hugely impressive" - The Times 4/5
"Everything on this album seems to burst with brilliant vitality" - Metro, 5/5, Album of the Week
"It's a veritable treasure chest of an album, an embarrassment of riches proving that one of the UK's longest-serving rappers is also one of its most vital and relevant." -The Line of Best Fit
"Ups the stakes with boundary-stretching pop... he's certainly never sounded so sharp" - Q, 4/5
"A tidy summation of Roots' myriad moods, it plays almost like a greatest hits set, skittering with casual genius" - Mojo, 4/5
