The Aussie couple, who live in Sydney, have boys Charlie, six, and Tennyson, four, and try to keep things as normal as possible for the kids.
Spencer told the Herald Sun, "For us, it's really important they have a sense of normality.
"We want to make sure they have an appreciation for the privileges they have, but also not allow that to get out of control.
"They should be grounded and compassionate to others."
In terms of her husband's global fame, she argued that it is simply an illusion.
"I don't buy into the fame thing a great deal," she said. "To me, it's an abstract thing that's out floating in the ether.
"Yes, (Crowe) is an actor and he's well known, but the reality of our day doesn't have to do anything with that."
