Christopher Chaney, the hacker arrested for stealing nude photographs from Scarlett Johansson's mobile phone, has apologised for his actions.
The 35-year-old admitted that he first began hacking out of curiosity.
He told a Florida news station: "It started as a curiosity. It happened and snowballed. I didn't know how to stop doing it.
"I deeply apologise. I know what I did was probably one of the worst invasions of privacy someone could experience. These people don't have privacy to begin with, and I was in that tiny little sliver of privacy they do have."
Chaney is accused of 26 counts of computer hacking, aggravated identity theft and wiretapping.
If convicted, he could be sentenced for up to 121 years in federal prison.
