Country singer Taylor Swift and True Blood star Evan Rachel Wood are also said to be in the running for the role of Eponine in the movie adaptation of the famous Broadway musical, which is based on the classic 19th-century novel by Victor Hugo.
According to the New York Post, all four of the actresses have already auditioned for the part.
Michele, who made her Broadway debut in Les Misérables in 1995, is said to have “knocked it out of the park” when she performed for director Tom Hooper.
The Oscar-winning director’s new movie already has a star-studded cast including Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush.
Filming for the movie is expected to begin early next year ahead of a planned December release.
