Sean Kingston received a standing ovation as he returned to the stage on Sunday at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, making his first live televised appearance since his nearly fatal jet ski accident last May.
As Tyra Banks introduced the Jamaican-American singer to the Gibson Amphitheatre stage, newspaper clippings detailing the accident -- which resulted in a trip to a Miami ICU and open heart surgery -- scrolled on a large screen in the background. Before helping Tyra announce the nominations for "Choice Male Artist" and presenting the award to friend and collaborator Justin Bieber, Kingston affectionately thanked his fans for the recent support.

"Thanks Tyra, thanks everybody! Not just for the welcome, but for all the love I've felt from so many of you guys for the past few months," Kingston told the crowd. "Trust me, I will never forget all of your thoughts and prayers. I love you guys. God Bless."
Kingston, who previously performed his hit single "Fire Burnin'" at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, told MTV last week that he was making plans to record a new album. "[I'm] focused on music again, about to start working on a new album and get back out there again," he says. "I think it's definitely going to open up to a lot of people, because now I got a story to tell."
