Secret Machines overjoyed with Oasis support slot

Secret Machines say their recent Oasis support slots have given them “hope” for the future.

The band, whose second LP will be released in early 2006, were invited to join the Mancunian giants at their recent Milton Keynes Bowl shows (July 9-10).

Guitarist Benjamin Curtis said of the experience: “There were so many people that were just completely drunk. It was amazing. It's weird to think that if one in ten people that saw us bought our record we would be in the charts!”

As for the album itself, the band explained they faced some unusual distractions at the studio.

“We recorded in a big huge old dining hall in Allaire Studios in the Catskill Mountains,” explained Curtis. “One side of it overlooks the valley through an enormous pane of glass. Birds would fly in to it and we had black bears running by when we were recording.”
