Selena Gomez Brushes Off 'Spring Breakers' Persona: It's Just 'A Part'

In case you haven't heard by now, "Spring Breakers" is all about sex, drugs and EDM. So considering that Selena Gomez has kept it all pretty PG up until now, it might be surprising to learn that she wasn't too nervous to take on a more adult persona in the flick, out Friday.

"Not necessarily. I just think as an actress you kind of look for things like this. It's not anything that we're doing that's super uncomfortable for us because we are playing characters and this is something that we were really passionate about," the former Disney star told ahead of the Harmony Korine-directed film's nationwide release.

In the neon-colored film, she is joined by fellow former tween queen Vanessa Hudgens as well as "Pretty Little Liars" actress Ashley Benson and Harmony's wife Rachel Korine. They play a group of bikini-clad girls who just want to have fun, by any means necessary. After their attempt at robbery goes awry, they are bailed out by James Franco's slimy gangster, Alien. From there the plot gets even more wild and dangerous, but nothing about the its content made Gomez feel uncomfortable.

She added, "I guess I can speak for all of us, there wasn't really anything that we were uncomfortable doing 'cause it is a part at the end of the day."

So, is she anything like Faith, her good-girl-gone-bad character in the movie? "I mean I'm the baby of the group. And I'm the baby of the group in the movie, so I would relate to that part, probably. But, everything else we're really different," she said.

"Spring Breakers" is rated R, but soon it will also be "Rated MTV." MTV's Josh Horowitz will sit down with the ladies for an upcoming "Movies Awards Edition" of "Rated MTV."
