Selena Gomez no longer cares about what people think of her.
The 23-year-old singer is currently promoting her new album Revival, having revealed the cover art earlier this week in which she boldly poses nude.
Selena feels her new LP expresses a lot about how far she has come in terms of self-confidence.
"I did gain weight, but I don't care. I did [before]," she shared during an On Air with Ryan Seacrest interview. "You know what's interesting? I posted this photo on Instagram and I was like, 'There's more to love and I'm happy with myself.' The reason why I did that was because I didn't want them to win. Because then the next day, it wasn't about how I gained weight, it was about how I embraced it. And that's just kind of my approach."
Selena is particularly proud of Revival's lead single Good for You featuring A$AP Rocky.
A superficial observation would classify the song as nothing more than a tune about a woman wanting to look good for her love interest, but Selena claims the lyrics contain a much deeper message.
"There's nothing wrong with a woman being comfortable, confident, [or] whatever it is that you feel," she said. "I love that, I love feeling like I'm in love and want to look good for someone. At the same time, there's no guy in the [music] video, I'm saying I am a diamond, and I like the way that women feel when they're in that state."
Selena's sophomore album Revival reaches shelves in early October.
