Selena Gomez gets nervous performing in front of "really cool people" like Bruno Mars.
The 20-year-old star recently took to the stage at the Billboard Music Awards where she showcased her new single Come and Get It in front of the all-star audience.
Selena joked that she was scheduled to sing early in the event, which eased her apprehension about appearing in front of her idols.
"I was nervous about performing in front of everyone, of course, it's a big awards ceremony and everyone wants to make time for it," she told BBC Radio 1. "In my mind, I said to myself, 'Bruno Mars and all the really cool people won't be here yet,' because I was on really early... And they weren't!"
Selena revealed her highlights from the Billboards, which included seeing Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne perform a steamy routine on stage. The former Disney star couldn't tear her eyes away from Nicki's lap dance for the rapper.
"Nicki Minaj [was a highlight]! Her butt is very big; I love her, she's got the swag. I like when she is the big gangster, with her baseball cap on," Selena laughed.
During the awards, Selena also took to the stage to present her close friend Taylor Swift with a prize. Selena gushed about the pretty singer, insisting they haven't fallen out despite the footage that emerged from behind the scenes at the ceremony, where Taylor appears to pull a face at Selena embracing on/off boyfriend Justin Bieber.
"Taylor is my good friend, I presented her award. I love her; she's so cool, normal and down to earth. She's the girl you call when you are going through any heartache. Just listen to her songs and you'll feel better," Selena gushed. "I love Taylor, she's the best."
Selena is known for her clean-cut public image. The virtuous star shared the worst thing she has ever done and still haunts her today.
"I was eight years old and I stole a ChapStick from the nail salon and it was very hard for me as I was always a really good kid," Selena explained. "I ran to the car and told my mom and she made me go back in and apologise. But apart from that, I've definitely broken curfews and stuff."
