Selena Gomez knows she would have an incredibly "heavy conscience" if she retaliated to her haters.
The 23-year-old singer often finds herself at the centre of comments from the public, whether they are flattering or otherwise.
But when it comes to responding to such negativity, Selena insisted she has better things to do with her time.
Selena spoke about her new album Revival with JustJared.com and was asked which song on the record means the most to her.
'Kill Em With Kindness," she replied. "I think people won't even realise that their words are so meaningful and I think people need to hear that a little bit more. There's just a lot that happens and now with social media and how much access people can have to your heart and your feelings, it's a little frightening.
"And I think that it's very important to understand that if you combat it and don't give in to it, it will just make you feel so much better. I will have such a heavy conscience if I retaliate all the hate I get. Trust me, I want to, but I do feel like that's always been the best thing for me, is turning the other cheek."
As well as her musical ventures, Selena is continuing in the acting field as well. She voices the character Mavis in animated film Hotel Transylvania 2 and has an idea which of her tracks her cartoon alter-ego would like the best.
"I think Mavis would like Me and the Rhythm or Rise," she said. "I think they're both really fun songs about being free and in the moment and not really taking no for an answer, not bowing down."
Selena hit headlines earlier this year when she displayed a slightly curvier figure. She is now once again slimmer than ever, but admits she is definitely a fan of food and calorific treats.
"I love tamales, that's my favourite," she said. "And rice and beans of course. My grandma used to make this homemade salsa that was bomb, but she would actually get the jalapenos and crush them into pieces, which I loved. It was so good. I'm hungry!"
