Selena Gomez has publicly praised Katy Perry for dismissing rumours her boyfriend Orlando Bloom hooked up with the young pop star.
The Come & Get It singer was pictured getting cosy with The Lord of the Rings actor at a Las Vegas club at the weekend (07-08May16), and while they had previously denied a romance, their behaviour sparked speculation the actor was cheating on Katy, who has been dating since January, according to reports.
Katy, 31, brushed off the drama on Twitter on Thursday (12May16) by posting a link to an article 39-year-old Orlando had written for Time magazine about his work as a United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) ambassador. With the link, she warned her fans against paying attention to the rumoured love triangle, by writing, "Instead of giving energy & eyeballs to dumb conspiracy (trash emoji) check out how COOL this is... #dontfeedthebeast."
In an act of solidarity, 23-year-old Selena retweeted Katy's message and added the raised hands emoji, which can mean praise, preach or celebrate. In a separate tweet, she referenced her song Kill Em With Kindness and wrote, "one day they'll get it lol (laugh out loud)."
Katy broke her silence on Twitter on Thursday by cryptically posting Peggy Lee's version of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller song Is That All There Is?, which many interpreted as her own feelings over the drama.
The lyrics include the lines: "And then I fell in love, with the most wonderful boy in the world/We would take long walks by the river... Or just sit for hours gazing into each other's eyes/We were so very much in love... Then one day, he went away and I thought I'd die/But I didn't."
Katy and Orlando reportedly met at a Golden Globes afterparty in January and have been spotted together on many occasions since. While they attended the Met Gala in May separately, they both accessorised their outfits with retro Tamagotchi toys.
