Selena Gomez stunned on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards Sunday night before taking the stage for her debut performance of "Come & Get It." She explained to MTV News that her Britney Spears-inspired performance has been a long time in the making, but that doesn't make her feel any more at ease.
"I'm nervous. I really am, but my dancers and my band, we've worked on it for the past six days. I mean hopefully it will pay off. We really want to put on a show," she told before walking inside to perform. She noted that adding to the nerves was the fact that some of the hottest hotties in Hollywood are going to be sitting in the audience.
So, would imagining them naked ease the tension? "No! That would not help. That would just be ... [I'd be like] 'wonderful, great'!" she laughed about being distracted by that technique. (In fact, she's already proved that she gets a bit flustered even looking at photos of A-listers shirtless.)
When she storms the show, it will mark her first performance of "Come & Get It," the lead single off her forthcoming album, slated to drop this summer. "The whole record kind of has a world feel to it in a way," she explained to MTV News earlier this week. "It's very European and has a lot of island-y sounds. It's got a cool vibe to it, so we're applying it to the performance and even the tour and for future things we want to do and for this kick-off performance."
The track was produced by Stargate and written by chart-topping songwriter and "Pitch Perfect" star Ester Dean, who will take the stage with her "Pitch Perfect" co-stars, including the show's host Rebel Wilson, for a brand-new mash-up.
