Shakira's boyfriend Gerard Piqué claimed Thursday that the couple welcomed a son.
The 35-year-old Colombian singer and the 25-year-old FC Barcelona player announced they were expecting a baby in September.
Gerard wrote on Twitter that Shakira, who is thought to be eight months into her pregnancy, gave birth to a baby boy on December 27.
"Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thanks to all for your messages," tweeted in Spanish on his feed.
Perez Hilton notes that Gerard's native country Spain is currently celebrating Dia de los Santos Inocentes or Day of the Holy Innocents.
This holiday is very similar to America's April Fool's Day in which people play practical jokes on each other and generate false stories for fun.
Neither Shakira or Gerard's representatives have confirmed whether or not the singer has delivered their baby.
The pair met in 2010 while shooting a video for Shakira's theme song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the South Africa World Cup.
