Shakira feels blessed to have a partner who is "so passionate in the same way".
The 37-year-old singer shares 14-month-old son Milan with her beau Gerard Piqué, a professional Spanish football player.
And the star is shocked by how well they get on, because she believes their personalities are eerily parallel.
"We're very much alike. We're so similar," she told the April 2014 edition of Latina magazine.
"Our personalities are so similar we don't understand how we get along so well, being so similar. We're so compatible.
We want the same things, we like the same things, we hate the same things. We're so passionate the same way, we need passion the same way."
Shakira recently released a sexy duet with Rihanna entitled Can't Remember to Forget You, a song that appears on her tenth self-titled studio album.
And the songstress confesses she knew new music would be much more of a challenge to create after becoming a mother for the first time.
"Well I think [my son's] taught me, in general, he's taught me how to simplify because he requires me most of the time," she explained.
"So I have to kind of learn how to be a little more direct with my own work, with the way I tackle my work."
But ultimately Shakira is grateful about how parenthood has positively influenced her music.
"Everything is different," she told People magazine previously.
"I'm finally able to really savour all of those little moments that, in the early days of my career, I was too busy thinking about the next thing to just stop, take it all in, and enjoy."
