Sia has admitted that her new single 'Chandelier' could have been a huge hit for the likes of Rihanna or Beyonce - had she not 'accidentally' written it for herself.
The Aussie pop sensation has been penning chart-topping anthems for the likes of Katy Perry, Eminem, Britney Spears and countless more since the 90s - but now returns with a long-awaited new solo album of her own.
"I usually think, 'Oh this would work for Rihanna, or this would be a good one for B or Katy,'" Sia told On Air with Ryan Seacrest about the album's lead single, 'Chandelier'. "But this time I was like, 'Uh oh I think I just wrote a full-blown pop song for myself by accident!'"
"My friend Jesse Shatkin and I were jamming in the studio - I was playing piano and him on the marimba - and this gem popped out."
Sia's sixth solo album is expected later this year. Her last solo LP, We Are Born, was released in 2010. Since then, she's lent her vocals to a number of massive worldwide hits (David Guetta's 'Titanium', Flo Rida's 'Wild Ones') as well as writing tracks for Beyonce, Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue.
'Chandelier' will be available June 1, with an album following in the summer.
